CLEVELAND -- Kyrie Irving managed to find a silver lining -- and a sliver of hope for the Cavaliers playoff chances -- while dealing with his latest injury. Garrison Mathews Jersey . The All-Star point guard will miss at least two weeks with a strained biceps tendon, but hes hopeful his season is not over. "If you could take a positive from the situation, obviously that would be one, that at this point, I dont have to get surgery, which is tremendous," Irving said following shootaround Tuesday at the Cleveland Clinic Courts. Clevelands leading scorer got hurt Sunday night in a loss against the Los Angeles Clippers. An MRI taken Monday revealed the strain, but not a tear, which would have ended Irvings season. Its still not a certainty hell be back, but the Cavs will rest him for two weeks before making any decisions. With 15 games left, the Cavs enter their home matchup against Miami five games behind Atlanta for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. It was going to be a challenge for the Cavs to make up any ground with Irving, and now without him, theyre in a major bind. The 21-year-old was trying to strip the ball from Clippers forward Blake Griffin when his tendon gave out. "One of those freak plays against a strong individual in Blake," Irving said. "I tried to get the ball out of his hands. I knew something was wrong when I came to the bench. Obviously, I just felt just a weird feeling after that play in my shoulder. My arm looked a little different in the biceps area. Thats when I knew that I strained it." Irving will miss at least eight games. Hes already sat out 41 in three NBA seasons, leading some to label him as injury prone. Its still possible he may need an operation, but Irving is trying to be optimistic. "Well see in two weeks," he said. "Im not going to give a definitive answer because I dont know that answer. At this point, Im just going to continue to support my teammates and be on the sideline. Whatever the medical team needs me to do and whatevers in my best interests, Im going to do." With his best player out, Cavs coach Mike Brown will start Dion Waiters in the backcourt with Jarrett Jack. Cleveland could get back C.J. Miles, who has missed 12 games with a sprained ankle. Waiters has provided a spark off the bench all season, and said hes going start with the same mindset hes had as a reserve. "Just going out there playing my game, let everything come to me," he said. "Dont go out there and try to press and do things I normally dont do. Just play the game and have fun." Waiters says all the Cavs have to step it up with Irving sidelined. "Kyrie is the best player on the team," Waiters said. "But it gives other guys the chance to play and show coach things they can do. Weve got to pick it up. Everybody has to be together and play for each other. Thats the biggest thing losing a huge piece like that. We have to play the game, move the ball and have fun out there." Otto Porter Jr. Jersey . The same for both the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers. Mike Davis Jersey . The Redskins announced Monday that the quarterback who led the team to the Super Bowl championship in the 1987 season will serve as a personnel executive.JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- This was the Indianapolis Colts everyone expected to see in 2014. Playing the Jacksonville Jaguars surely helped them look so good. Andrew Luck threw four touchdown passes -- three of them in a lopsided first half -- and the Colts dominated Jacksonville 44-17 on Sunday for their first win of the season. It was a home opener to forget for the Jaguars (0-3), who trailed 30-0 at the break and benched quarterback Chad Henne. The only positive for Jacksonville was getting rookie Blake Bortles on the field. The third overall pick in Mays NFL draft played the entire second half, finishing with two touchdown passes and two interceptions. He completed 14 of 24 passes for 223 yards, including fourth-quarter scores to Allen Hurns and Cecil Shorts III. Bortles found Hurns near midfield, and the rookie escaped two tackles en route to his third touchdown in three games. Bortles threw a strike to Shorts with 18 seconds remaining. Those were among the few highlights for the Jaguars. Indianapolis (1-2) made plays from start to finish, including Greg Toler returning an interception 47 yards for a touchdown with 2:58 to play. Luck did most of the damage, though. He completed 31 of 39 passes for 370 yards. The Colts, who had chances to win their first two games, scored on six first-half possessions against Jacksonville. Luck became the latest to pick apart Jacksonvilles defence, joining Philadelphias Nick Foles and Washingtons Kirk Cousins. Luck completed 22 of 27 passes for 244 yards in the first half, connecting with nine different receivers. He found Ahmad Bradshaw for a 6-yard touchdown thaat made it 10-0, hooked up with Dwayne Allen for a 1-yard score on the next drive and capped the impressive opening 30 minutes with a 7-yarder to Coby Fleener. Ish Smith Jersey. The score could have been more one-sided, too. Indy had three drives bog down in Jacksonville territory. All of them ended with field goals by Adam Vinatieri. Jacksonville allowed 330 yards in the opening half and contributed to its woes with missed tackles and blown assignments. Henne and the offence going three-and-punt on their first three drives certainly didnt help the defence, either. The result: Jacksonville was outscored 105-10 in the eight quarters since leading Philadelphia 17-0 at halftime in the season opener. Henne started getting booed with every throw, and Bradley made the switch in the locker room. Henne completed 4 of 7 passes for 33 yards and was sacked three times. Bortles was considerably better and even kept most of the crowd from leaving the home opener, which featured the debut of $63 million in stadium upgrades that include a party deck, two pools and cabanas. The Jaguars said from the day they drafted Bortles that they wanted to bring him along slowly and even suggested he might sit all season. But calls for him to replace Henne grew with every week and every loss. It remains to be seen whether Bradley will stick with Bortles the rest of the season. The Colts called this game a must-win, knowing they didnt want to start 0-3 in the AFC South. Since the NFL expanded its playoff format in 1990, only three teams -- San Diego in 1992, Detroit in 1995 and Buffalo in 1998 -- started 0-3 and made the post-season. ' ' '
